If you just dumped in here from a search, you may be widening your eyes right now, thinking:
“What is bite-sized affiliate marketing? Never heard about it before. And why should I care?”
All valid questions.
The quick answer is that bite-sized affiliate marketing can be your fast-lane out of your boring 9-5. Or your friendly path towards a better life as a retired. Or even the only working solution for people with ADHD.
In short, it is a way to make money spending only small chunks of time doing so.
When I was chatting with a friend, that is what she told me.
She only had 5 minutes right now, so she could not start anything new. I knew that she could. She just did not know yet how to do it.
That moment, I decided to write a series of blog posts that explain my methodology so that you and anyone reader will never be in that situation again.
You should not fill up every spare moment of your time with work. That is not the goal with this series. But if you have a few minutes here and there and you want to make money instead of watching cat videos or arguing on Facebook, then read on.
A “bite” is anything between 5 and 25 minutes.
Overall, I think of a bite as being 15 minutes. But that is just because this time chunk suits me so well. I can dive directly in and be focused and come out after 15 minutes and have achieved something.
This bite-sized method works extremely well in combination with affiliate marketing.
Affiliate marketing is when somebody else creates a product, physical or virtual, and pays you to find buyers for it.
If you have never tried to sell before in your life, this may sound hard. In reality, it can be super-easy. All it takes is for you to be honest and genuine.
Through the product vendor (or platform) you will get a special link only for you.
When you share that link, and somebody buys the product, you earn a commission. This can range from a few cents to several thousand dollars. It all depends on the vendor, the platform and the product.
A lot of people who start online in the hope of making money choose Amazon as their affiliate portal.
It certainly has its advantages. You can find almost anything on Amazon. Books, toys, food, televisions and garden tools.
But Amazon also has its disadvantages.
You must share links out in the open from a blog for example. And you will only make small commission rates. Some things will grant you only three percent for example.
On the other end of the scale, you have digital products.
This can be online courses, eBooks, templates… There are many different digital products to choose from. And some of them will pay you up to 100 percent commission.
Most eBooks and courses will give you 50 percent.
This means that for every $100 course you sell, you will earn $50 when a person buys it through your link. If you keep reading this series of articles, you will learn about many different ways to get out to hundreds or thousands of potential buyers.
It is no wonder that a lot of people have turned affiliate marketing into their full-time business.
When you do bite-sized affiliate marketing, you find “bites” of time during the day.
When you have 5 minutes, that is a bite. You can make money during that time. When you have 15 minutes, it is even better.
And yes, you can create a full-time business and split your time up into bites.
Instead of working 8 hours per day non-stop and burn out, you can take it one bite at a time. You will start fresh on each bite, and you will end your “work day” fresh and ready to start over again tomorrow.
Some tasks will definitely take more than 15 minutes to complete.
That is not a problem. Some tasks are really big and will take hours to finish. This is how you deal with them.
Let us say for example, that you have decided to share a link to a video course you just bought.
You got the affiliate link, but there are three hours of videos in the course. And you know that to talk truthfully about the course, you need to watch all three hours.
Not a problem.
If you have 15-minute bites during the day, then start the course and stop after 15 minutes. That includes taking notes. Then start the next bite-sized timeslot where you stopped watching.
Luckily, a lot of courses is delivered in smaller videos, maybe 5 minutes long or 15.
This makes your job easier. But even if the video lasts a couple of hours, which also happens, then you can chunk it down. Just write down with your notes where you stopped.
It is an easy concept to learn, and you can quickly get into the habit of using your time better.
In a later article, I will elaborate more on how you find those time-bites and how you measure them. This first one is just a quick overview of how the system works.
The concept is:
Find small bites of time where you would normally do nothing or waste your time on social media.
Find affiliate products to promote.
Combine the two. Spend the time-bites first going through the affiliate products. And then creating promotions of the affiliate products you chose.
After you have learned and adapted this bite-sized affiliate marketing method, you will never again go back to wasting time arguing with trolls on X/Twitter.
It will be far too funny to make money instead.
